Zimbabwean cuisine

Zimbabwean cooking rests on sadza, the maize porridge, and on peanut butter, which goes into nearly everything.

Sadza is not a side but the base: without it a Zimbabwean meal does not count as a meal, however generous the rest of the table.

Dovi, peanut butter, is the thickener and the sauce base here. It goes into greens, into meat, into pumpkin — everywhere a European would reach for cream.
