Study tools on UniTools: average from a list of grades, grade needed on the final and more.

Four average-grade calculators cover the whole cycle of working with marks: what the average already is, what is needed on what remains, how weighting changes the picture, and what the final school certificate average comes to.

The most useful is the reverse one. It says plainly when a target average has become unreachable on the assessments left, and shows the best result that is genuinely still available.

Around the grades themselves the section answers the neighbouring questions: how many pages a text will run to, how long it takes to read aloud, what the exam has to score, how many classes can still be missed, and what a percentage turns into on the ECTS and GPA scales.

FAQs

How is an average rounded for a report?+

Usually upward from .5, but each school sets its own assessment policy, and many round in the student's favour on a borderline figure.

Which subjects count toward a certificate average?+

Every subject with a final grade, physical education, art, music and technology included.

When do I need a weighted average?+

When an exam counts for several ordinary marks. In universities the weights are usually the course credits.

What raises an average fastest?+

Fixing the lowest grades rather than adding new high ones. Over ten grades, turning a 3 into a 5 has four times the effect of one more 5.

How many characters fit on one page?+

About 1800 with spaces under the usual coursework layout — Times New Roman 14 at one-and-a-half spacing. Dense typesetting holds 2500, and the page calculator takes your own figure if the department sets one.
