If you have not signed up

The site sets one cookie, `unitools_locale`. It holds the chosen language and nothing else, so the right version opens next time. It carries no identifier and is not used for tracking.

Calculations run and stay in your browser. The amounts, weights, dates and other values you type are not sent to the server and are not stored anywhere unless you press save or share yourself.

The page counter

The site counts page views itself. Three things are recorded: the address of the page opened, its language, and the domain you arrived from — "google.com", for instance. The numbers are added into a daily total. No IP address, browser fingerprint or identifier is stored by it, and it sets no cookie.

Alongside it the site runs Yandex Metrica, a standard web analytics service. It sets its own cookies (names starting with `_ym_`) and passes Yandex technical details of the visit: the pages viewed, the referrer, the device and browser type, and depersonalised IP information.

Session replay (WebVisor) and the click map are switched off: Metrica counts visits and where they come from, but does not record on-page actions — mouse movement, scrolling or clicks.

Metrica exists so it is possible to see which search engines send visitors and for which queries — without it the Russian-speaking half of the audience is invisible. How Yandex handles this data is described in its own privacy policy.

Microsoft Clarity runs alongside it — the same kind of analytics, from Microsoft. It sets its own cookies (names starting with `_clck` and `_clsk`) and records mouse movement, scrolling and clicks. It is here because a large share of visitors arrives from Bing, which Metrica sees poorly. Passwords are never recorded; the data is held by Microsoft and visible only to the project's owner.

Metrica and Clarity load only after you agree: in Europe, Brazil and Chile the site asks before setting a single one of their cookies. Consent is per service — one may be allowed and the other refused — and it can be withdrawn at any time through the Cookies link in the footer.

The fact of consent is logged, because Article 7(1) GDPR requires being able to demonstrate it. The record holds four fields and nothing else: the time, which services were allowed, the language of the window and the version of the text. No IP address, no browser details. It carries a random identifier that also sits in your browser, so the record can be found, handed over or deleted on request.

If you create an account

Stored: your email address, a password hash (the password itself is never kept in any form), your display name and an avatar link if you signed in with Google.

Also stored is what you create: saved calculations, favourite tools, presets, shopping lists and interface settings.

Signing in with Google passes us your email address, name and avatar link. Your Google password is not passed to us and is not accessible to us.

If you shared a result

The share-a-result and share-a-meeting features create a link with a token. The values you shared are stored against that link — otherwise opening it would be impossible.

Anyone holding the link can open it. Do not share a calculation containing data you would rather not show.

Who the data goes to

We do not sell your data, and nothing that identifies you reaches the ad network: not your email address, not your name, not the values you type into the calculators.

The site is connected to Google AdSense. On pages that carry advertising, Google and its partners set cookies of their own and use them to choose which adverts to show, drawing on earlier visits to this and other sites. Personalised advertising does not load without your consent.

Personalisation can be switched off in Google's Ads Settings; a single opt-out covering many third-party vendors at once sits at aboutads.info. What Google collects on sites that use its services is set out on its own page.

There are four external services: Google sign-in — only if you used it — plus Yandex Metrica, Microsoft Clarity and Google AdSense. The first three are described above; advertising is described here.

Account data and the site's own counter are held on the project's server in Europe.

Deleting your data

Write to the address on the contact page asking for account deletion. Every related record goes with it: saved calculations, favourites, presets, lists and shared links.

You may request a copy of your data, its correction or its deletion. A reply follows within 30 days.
