The inertia of an accumulated record

Win rate calculator: enter wins and total matches to get your win percentage, plus how many wins in a row a target rate needs and how many losses would drop you below it. Works for Dota 2, CS2, LoL, MLBB or any ranked game.

A win rate above fifty percent means the rating climbs. Exactly fifty means stagnation: matchmaking has found your level and is holding you there. Below that, the rating drifts down.

What the calculation really shows is how hard an established record is to move. At two hundred and fifty matches played, lifting a win rate from forty-eight to fifty-five percent costs almost forty consecutive wins — with not a single loss along the way.

The streak figure assumes wins with no losses at all — a real climb is always longer.
Draws, where a game has them, are not counted: only wins and total matches.

FAQs

How do I calculate win rate?

Wins divided by matches played, times 100. 120 wins in 250 matches is 120 ÷ 250 × 100 = 48%. Draws are usually left out of both numbers; if your game counts them as half a win, add half a win per draw before dividing.

What is a good win rate?

In a ranked ladder with matchmaking, anything sustained above 50% means you are climbing, and 55% is strong. Numbers far above that only appear on small samples or at the very top, where the pool of equal opponents is thin.

What win rate is needed to climb?

Above fifty percent. At 55 the rating climbs steadily, at 50 it holds, and below that it slides.

Why does my win rate sit near fifty?

That is matchmaking working: the system finds opponents of your level, and even matches produce near-random results. A sustained deviation upward means you are playing above your current rank.

How do I raise a win rate quickly?

You cannot. The only lever is playing fewer matches and winning a larger share of them; on a large sample any single win barely registers.

Season win rate or lifetime?

Season: it reflects current form. A lifetime record includes the period when you were much worse and says little about today.

Trying to save a season

Input: 120 wins from 250 matches, target 55%

Output: A 48% win rate, needing 39 wins in a row

Note: Thirty-nine wins in a row does not happen. The practical lesson is simple: win rates are fixed early in a season while the sample is small, not at the end once the inertia has built.
