Volume to weight, with the density that actually applies
A cup of flour and a cup of honey weigh very different amounts. Pick the ingredient and convert cups, tablespoons, millilitres and grams properly.
This is the conversion most kitchen charts get wrong. A cup measures volume, a gram measures mass, and the bridge between them is density — which changes completely depending on what is in the cup.
A cup of water is 240 g. The same cup holds about 127 g of flour and roughly 341 g of honey. Choose the ingredient first and the numbers stop fighting you.

How many grams is one cup of flour?
About 127 g with the spoon-and-level method. Packed straight from the bag it can reach 150 g, which is enough to make a dough noticeably dry.
Why do American recipes use cups at all?
Volume measuring is faster and needs no scale. It works fine for liquids, where volume and weight track each other, and poorly for anything that compresses.
Is a tablespoon the same everywhere?
No. A US tablespoon is 14.8 ml, the metric standard is 15 ml, and an Australian tablespoon is 20 ml — a third larger, which matters for raising agents.
What if my ingredient is not in the list?
Use water as a baseline for thin liquids like milk, stock or juice; they sit within a few percent of 1 g per ml. Solids need their own density.
