Working days, weekends and the statutory hour norm for any month or a whole year, calculated from your own list of public holidays.

The hour norm turns up everywhere: prorating salary for a partial month, costing overtime, comparing shift patterns. An ordinary calendar is not enough, because public holidays have to come out and the government reshuffles the weekends around them every year.

So the holiday list here is editable. Paste the dates for the year you need and the calculator handles a full year or a single month, at a 40-, 36- or 24-hour week.

What to keep in mind

Saturday and Sunday are treated as weekends; shift workers should compute the norm from their own rota instead.
The one-hour reduction on pre-holiday days is not applied — subtract those hours separately if you need that precision.

FAQs

How is the hour norm derived?

Working days times the shift length: 8 hours on a 40-hour week, 7.2 on a 36-hour week, 4.8 on a 24-hour week, less any pre-holiday reductions.

Where does the holiday list come from?

Article 112 of the Labour Code lists the permanent dates, and an annual government decree sets the weekend transfers, usually published about a year ahead.

What if a holiday falls on a weekend?

The day off moves to the next working day, and that decree fixes exactly where. Enter the transferred dates to match the official calendar.

Why does the norm matter on a fixed salary?

It gives the hourly rate — salary divided by the month's norm — which is the basis for partial-month pay and every overtime supplement.

Worked example

August 2026

Input: 2026, August, standard holiday list, 40-hour week

Output: 21 working days, 168 hours

Note: August has no holidays, so the norm comes out even. January, by the same method, yields only 16 working days.
